Selecting a Call excerpt

File 234

The Oak Call Player enables you to mark the 'Start' and 'End' points of a portion of the 'Call Recording'

You can select the 'Play' 'Start' point by left-clicking the mouse within the waveform window.

File 235

The 'End' of the excerpt is marked by right-clicking the waveform window. The marked excerpt is now shown in green.

Masking part of a Call Recording

File 237Note: The 'Mask' is only applied to the saved 'MP3' or'WAV' file. The original 'Call Recording' remains unchanged

Masking is a means of 'hiding' sensitive information contained in the original 'Call Recording'.

As noted above, the 'Mask' is only applied to the the 'Call Recording' when it is exported (saved) as an 'MP3' or 'WAV' file. The red 'Mask' icon is on the far-right of the pane.

When you have reviewed the call and decided where to put the 'Mask', pause the playback at the point you wish to start masking and click the 'Mask' icon (highlighted in the screen-shot). Please click on these images to view it full-sized.

File 238Move the cursor (a red pointer) to the paused playback position and click the mouse. A red line will show the position of the 'Mask' start point.
File 239Resume playback (click the 'Play' button) to locate the end-point for the 'Mask', click 'Pause' to mark this point with the playback position, position the 'Mask' cursor over the line and click the mouse.

File 240The 'Mask' will now be visible on the waveform display.

Repeat the above until all the the 'sensitive' information has been 'Masked'.

File 227You can now 'Save' the 'Call Recording'.

In the bottom left-hand corner of the pane is the 'Save' button. You have the option to save the recording in 'WAV' or 'MP3' format.

File 228The call has to be selected (by clicking the check-box) before it can be saved.

Note: Within the saved file the segments that were 'Masked' will have been entirely removed and there will be no gaps in the playback. The export has been edited to remove the 'Masked' portions.
