Record call recording prerequisites

For Analog, BRI, PRI or digital extension recording, you will require our call recording hardware.  For IP or SIP recording, you will need our USB dongle.  If you do not have these, please contact us.

Ensure you are using one of the following Windows Operating Systems:

  • XP Pro
  • Vista 32-bit
  • Windows 7 32-bit
  • Windows 7 64-bit
  • Server 2003 32-bit
  • Server 2008 32-bit
  • Server 2008 64-bit
  • Server 2008 R2-bit

Record is NOT compatible with any other operating system.

The minimum server spec is as follows:

  • Dual Core Processor
  • 4 GB RAM 
  • XGA Graphics capable of showing resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Minimum 250GB Hard Drive. 250GB will store approximately 1 year's worth of calls for a single PRI
  • MS Internet Explorer 8 or higher, or Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox, or Safari

If installing our Premium or Enterprise software, the Telephone System must be set up for call accounting

This means that:
A) The SMDR / CDR output is turned on
B) The SMDR / CDR output is available to our call accounting software.  For more information about how we connect to different telephone systems, please go here

The PC does need to be dedicated

You must install Report Call Accounting onto the same PC where you are installing Record (purchase is not required).

If you are installing Record Standard, you do not need to do any configuration for Report.  Just follow the instructions here 

If you are installing Record Premium or Enterprise, you need to follow the instructions from the following pages:

Security and Permissions

record X must be installed with full "Administrator' rights.  If the PC is part of a network (LAN or WAN) the user rights must include full network connectivity.

Note: The PC must have 'Networking' fully enabled before installing record X 

If necessary, add the following TCP ports as allowable exceptions in Windows Firewall:

  • 211
  • 8090
  • 8095
  • 9007
  • 9091
  • 9092
  • 9093
  • 9094
  • 9098
  • 9099
  • 9100
  • 9102
  • 9103
  • 9400
  • 9595
  • 9999

 Please note that in most cases, these port numbers will be open anyway.
