Ticker Panel

You have the option of displaying a 'Free Form' scrolling 'Ticker' anywhere within the 'Wallboard'.

File 515Click the 'Ticker Panel' button.
File 516The new blank (un-configured) 'Free form Ticker' will now appear in the display X window. To configure the 'Ticker', move the mouse-cursor into the 'Free form Ticker' window ...
File 517... to activate the toolbar. Click the 'Configure'button to open...

File 518... the 'Free form Ticker Editor' window.

The first configuration step is to give the 'Ticker' a 'Label', which will identify it as a recipient of messages 'addressed' to it. If you intend to send the same message to a number of Wallboards, each 'Ticker' should be given the same 'Label'.

To define the first 'Label', click the 'Add new' button and enter the 'Label' into the field. Once the 'Label' has been defined, it can be selected from the drop-menu when configuring 'Tickers' on other Wallboards.

File 519In this example, 'Accounts Department' has been chosen to identify this particular group of 'Agents'.
File 520By default, the 'Ticker' display is set to display 'Lime' text on a 'Black' background.

File 521The next two fields control:

  • Auto Resize Font - we would recommend this field be set to 'On' (ticked check-box)

  • Default Font Size - enables you to increase and decrease the size of the 'Font' relative to its original size.

File 522The final option is text 'Scrolling'. It the message to be displayed is very short and will fit into the window, then 'Scrolling' is unnecessary. However, since the majority of messages will be more than a single word or two, we would advise 'Scrolling' is left turned on.

The 'Scroll Speed' control enables you to speed up or slow down the speed of the text scrolling.

The last field ('Font Name') shows the font being used to display the message. Note this is for information only and the font cannot be changed by the user.

When the 'Ticker Editor' has been configured, clicking the 'Close' button closes the window and saves the settings.

File 523The 'RSS' tab is used to configure the connection to an 'RSS' xml data feed.

To display an 'RSS' feed tick the check-box and enter the web address of the feed into the field:

e.g. 'http://www.oak.co.uk/rss/oak_news.xml'

You must change the setting of 'Show Last n Entries' to a positive figure, e.g. '5', otherwise nothing will be displayed in the 'Ticker' window.

File 524The 'Ticker' can be re-sized by moving the mouse cursor over the border of the window in the corner so the cursor arrow changes to a black two-headed arrow (highlighted in the screen-shot). By clicking and holding down the mouse button, the window can be re-sized by dragging until all the contents of the window is clearly displayed.
